Set up the COD form after installing

The four steps of the dashboard setup guide: activate the form in your theme, place a test order, customize it, and optionally switch on SMS protection.

The dashboard opens on a Setup guide that tracks the tasks needed to get the COD form live, ticking each one off as you finish it. It is titled Setup Guide and has the four steps below. The other half of the app has its own guide, on the Rules page under Activation, headed COD in Shopify Checkout. That one can wait.

Step 1: Activate COD Form

The first step is Activate COD Form. Click Activate and the app opens your theme editor at the app embeds list. Switch on Progus COD Form and press Save in the top right corner of the theme editor. The app checks your theme by itself, so the step turns green once the embed is really on, and the dashboard tile changes from Not Active to Active.

Step 2: Place a test COD order

The step named Place a test COD order has a Test on your store button that opens a live product page. Buy from your own store the way a customer would, then find the order in Shopify admin. It should be unpaid, with the Cash on Delivery gateway and the tag that marks COD form orders. Doing this before you send traffic saves you from discovering a missing shipping rate on a real order.

Step 3: Customize COD Form

Customize your form takes you to COD Form → Form customization. At minimum, check the fields you are asking for and the shipping rates on offer. On a fresh install the app marks an existing rate named Free shipping as the default if your store already has one, so if you charge for delivery check that before you go live.

Step 4: Optional SMS protection

The last step, (Optional) Enable SMS protection, sends a one time code by SMS to verify COD orders from the form. It costs SMS credits, so leave it until the form itself works.

What to do next

  • Set your shipping rates and, if you charge one, your COD fee before you send customers to the form.

  • Decide where the form should appear: product page, cart, or both.

  • Check what a customer sees after ordering, and change it if the Shopify thank you page is not what you want.

Stuck on any of this? Open the chat in the bottom right corner of the app and we will help you set it up.
