A customer who has paid something is far more likely to accept the parcel. Partial payment takes a deposit by card through the Buy now (pay with card) button and leaves the rest to be collected on delivery. Open COD Form → Partial payment. The heading carries a status of Enabled, Not configured or Not enabled.
Under How partial payment works for customers there are two choices. Required means every customer who presses the main order button pays a deposit before the order is placed. Optional leaves the ordinary cash on delivery order in place and offers the deposit as a second path, through the Buy now button. It needs that button on your form, and the app warns you with Add the Buy now button to your form if it is missing.
Under Payment options, Add payment option creates a choice the customer can pick. Each has a Label, a Deposit type of Percentage (%) or Fixed amount, and a Value.
Order value limits takes a Minimum order amount and a Maximum order amount, both optional. Include the COD fee in the card deposit amount decides whether your cash on delivery fee is part of what the customer pays now or is collected with the rest on delivery. A worked example with real figures sits underneath, inside a How it works disclosure that is closed until you open it, and it appears only once a cash on delivery fee is set.
Modal customization offers eight colour themes: Minimal, Ocean, Sunset, Forest, Berry, Midnight, Aurora and Amber. Below them sits a separate row, Advanced customization, which switches the modal to a ninth, Custom theme and opens a panel. Two things live only in that panel: the Show "Secure payment" trust badge switch, on by default, and Modal text, where each line can be left on Default, replaced with Custom text, or set to Don't show. On any other theme the panel stays closed and neither is reachable.
Catalog rules for partial payment restricts the deposit flow to chosen products or collections, without changing the COD form's own rules.

Deposit orders go through the Buy now path, which never checks your Fraud Protection block lists, so a customer you have blocked can still place one.
